For those of you who are not familiar with the region:
Stuart Virginia is a lovely small town in Patrick County Virginia. The
county seat has a lovely Historical Courthouse, A beautifully
appointed Library and Historical Museum that looks out over the city
park. The town is nestled in between the rolling hills of the piedmont
and the southern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It has been called
the gateway to the Blue Ridge. Stuart is a great base for touring the
mountains because it is located at the bottom of a range of mountains
that leads up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Eight miles from town on
Route 58 one encounters a spectacular view from the famous “Lovers
Leap”. At an altitude of 3000 feet one looks out across a valley that
is unencumbered by population. A view like this can only make the
spirit soar. If you continue in ten more minutes you are on the Blue
Ridge Parkway. If you choose to take Route 8 to the Parkway you wind
your way up through an exciting series of S curves and across the famous
Rock Castle Creek. On a slow hot summer day you can stop at the
historical CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp-Works Progress
Administration) Camp and hike your way up through the gorge. There is
nothing more refreshing than a walk along this beautiful rushing
water.
Towns of interest nearby are Mount Airy, Floyd and Hillsville. Small
cities in the region are Galax and Martinsville. Stuart is 50 miles
from Winston-Salem, NC, 65 miles from Roanoke, VA, and 60 miles from
Greensboro and Blacksburg. It takes two 2 hr to get to the Research
Triangle (Raleigh- Durham-Chapel Hill) in central NC.

The current use has been as a residence-art studio. It is prime
location for this as the house sits on a hill above downtown Stuart one
block off of Route 8 a main thoroughfare in the region. In the field
across from the front of the house is a new outdoor amphitheatre where
the local farmers market set up shop in the growing season. Located
down the Hill on Patrick Avenue is the Star Theatre, a local venue for
all sorts of theatrical events. “The Crooked Road” a tourist Heritage
trail runs right through this part of town. A Stained Glass Art Studio
is also located on Patrick Avenue next to the Star Theatre. A new
outdoor Amphitheatre located across the street has been built recently
to house the Farmers Market and for Seasonal performances in conjunction
with the towns festivals. Many marketing opportunities are available
to the fine artist and crafts professionals.

This would make the perfect home for one or two people or a young
family. It is an excellent site for that second home or get away. It
is a great location for Artist or Musician’s Studio or it could be a
good base for Motor cycle enthusiast who wants to spend his touring in
beautiful surrounding. It is much more secure to own a home in town
than in a more remote location these days—A 10 minute drive gets you
there in a larger city that is how long it takes you to get to the
grocery store .
